Speaking in a media interview on Sunday, June 29, 2025, Ian’s aunt, Fatuma Opanga, recalled that Ian was at home in the morning when she left for work at 9 a.m. She had warned him not to join the protests due to their tendency to turn violent in Rongai. A TikToker has shared the ordeal he endured at the hands of individuals believed to be security agents. Geoffrey Chesoni was abducted in broad daylight in Mombasa CBD by seven armed men in a Subaru vehicle. A video circulating on social media shows one of the armed men firing into the air shortly after Chesoni was taken. Seven people have been arrested, and two guns have been recovered in connection with weapons stolen during recent Gen Z protests. In a statement on June 28, police in Kiambu County said an AK-47 rifle, a riot control rifle, and other police gear were retrieved following a manhunt led by Kikuyu police officers. According to Kiambu County Police Commander Dorris Kemey, the recovery followed a tip about a suspicious individual carrying a bulging bag at Gravity Bar in the Gahui area. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has shared principal tax reminder messages to individual taxpayers ahead of the June 30, 2025, deadline. The messages are part of an ongoing tax amnesty campaign targeting those with unpaid principal taxes. Taxpayers who settle their principal tax before the deadline will have accumulated penalties and interest waived. In one of the messages shared by KRA, a taxpayer was reminded to settle Ksh77,479 by June 30.  “Our records indicate that you owe principal tax of Ksh 77479.75 as at 31/12/2023.
