The Kenya Times ~ Trending, Breaking News and Videos DOJ Drops Maxwell Transcripts and Epstein Files —300 Pages of Secrets Revealed The Justice Department on Friday released transcripts and audio files of two days of interviews with Ghislaine Maxwell, conducted last month at her federal prison. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche led the sessions, which covered Maxwell’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein and her knowledge of figures linked to him. Officials also provided the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee with an initial set of records tied to Epstein. The files, described by the panel as numbering in the thousands of pages, included more than 300 pages from Maxwell’s interviews. Uhuru Park closed untill further notice after Gen Z protests

Image
When Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) under the former Defence Cabinet Secretary Mr Aden Duale handed over Uhuru Park and Central Park to the County Government of Nairobi, Governor Johnson Sakaja said that they would reach out to them shortly to redo the parks if the need arises. This seems to have come sooner than expected as the parks are now closed after baring severe damages in the recent anti-government protests that rocked the country. While the county is yet to reveal the full extent of the damage it suffered from the protests, both Uhuru Park and Central Parks are closed from the public until further notice as the county seeks to redo them. According to Mr Ibrahim Otieno, who is the County Chief Officer for the Environment, Uhuru Park was turned into ruins by protesters, and the county is now planning to work on areas that were damaged before allowing members of the public to visit the park again. Gates leading to Uhuru Park were damaged, some facilities including public toilets ins...

Njugush troubled childhood: Born without speech and attempted suicide

Image
Comedian Timothy Njugush Kimani has opened up about his troubled childhood upbringing.  Despite his current fame and success in entertainment circles, Njugush's childhood was marked by significant struggles. When he was born 33 years ago, Njugush didn't have a speech. "I was born with a condition called ankyloglossia. An unusual occurrence where the tip of the tongue is tied to the floor of the mouth by the frenulum... This condition meant many things then. That there is a possibility of me never being able to develop a speech. It also meant that due to the lack of awareness about the condition then, I risked missing opportunities that come with the privilege of a light tongue," Njugush reveals in his Memoir  Whispers from My Childhood: Through Thick and Thin. His mother first noticed something was amiss about a month after his birth, observing that he did not cry like other infants. Despite being her firstborn, she instinctively knew something was wrong. It took d...

YY: Making money on Youtube is easier said than done

Image
Comedian and Content Creator YY (Oliver Otieno) says making money from content on YouTube is no longer attainable. The funny man says content creators can no longer rely on YouTube to make significant amounts because of the cost of production that one has to deal with to produce content on the platform. To put his argument into perspective,  YY offered what it costs for a single  YouTube Content shoot production. “If you are shooting YouTube content and let’s say you need three cameras, each will cost you Sh6,000 to hire. That’s Sh18,000. Then there is the battery mount which will cost you Sh6,000 for the three cameras, two studio lightings will cost Sh5,000 and if you are doing a bigger production you will need more lights. Then there is Zoom Recorder which is around Sh6,500, go to tripod, lens, take cabs, and all that. So in a day, you might need Sh60,000 on the minimum and that’s not to add the venue charges where you will be shooting the content. You have your crew you ha...

Although Bensoul came out to defend his new relationship against critics maintaining that nobody understands the genesis of their romance, still there are a majority who aren’t convinced. Some have claimed that Bensoul and Cindy must have begun their relationship behind Gathoni’s back. Some feel that the relationship was born out of convenience and wouldn’t stand the taste of time. However, Bensoul maintains that his love life with Cindy is genuine despite the public condemnation. “For us, we are not chasing clout or trying to raise our numbers just because we went public with o...

Image

Breaking down the cost, Diamond’s longtime manager SK Sallam has revealed that the budget of the song is significantly higher than the Tsh500 million  (Sh24 million) if every expenditure is to be factored in from logistics, location, production, accommodation, and miscellaneous. “The video was shot in different locations by three different video directors. There is a dessert scene shot in Dubai,  a scene shot in Paris, and the scene which features both Diamond and Jason shot at a different location in Dubai as well,” SK Sallam says. Due to these dynamics, Sallam says they had to pump a lot of money to finance the project as the shooting involved several people as part of the crew. Diamond a...

Expert: Here’s why people take back cheating partner

Image
Have you ever wondered why a spouse would take back a cheating partner? You quietly watched as this individual was shown dust- sexually, emotionally, and financially neglected, the partner spending too much time away from home, a breakdown in this person's personality because their partner's infidelity destroys them inside- and their life satisfaction is next to zero. This is the point you join the bandwagon that 'marriage is a scam'. You wonder if this individual is a glutton for punishment to take back someone who would probably cheat on them repeatedly in the future. But you can't say anything. Because they share a blanket, have a shared life, probably children in tow, and have shared assets and debts- and leaving is not easy. So you can only sit ...

Their efforts bore fruit as seen when President Ruto dissolved his Cabinet, reconstituted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, banned harambees which saw salaried Parliamentarians shell out tens of millions to various highly localized private development projects, ended the budget of the offices of spouses to the President, Deputy President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary as well as drop the controversial Finance Bill 2024 among others. And Gen Z did all these- dressed in their nines. Skinny jeans, ripped jeans, bell bottoms, crop tops, mini skirts...

Why Kenyan Netflix Star Manasseh Nyagah has relocated to South Africa

Image
Kenyan Actor Manasseh Nyagah has opened up on the challenges he has encountered in South Africa since relocating in search of greener pastures. According to the swanky actor who has appeared in several films such as ‘Uradi’ streaming on Netflix and Showmax series ‘Famous’ , breaking into the acting scenes in South Africa isn’t as easy as it is in Kenya. “The space in South Africa is really different unlike Kenya. It works differently, not like Kenya where you just wing it, where you show up at a random audition and just become a star,” Nyagah narrates. Sharing of his experience, Nyagah terms the acting scene in South Africa as ‘strict’. “How the system works in South Africa its very strict. You have to get representation for you to work as anything even the auditions. You have to be represented, nobody deals with talent directly in South Africa as is the case in Kenya. So my biggest challenge was getting representation,” he explains. The actor adds that being a Kenyan also didn’t make...

South Korea’s top court confirms state benefits for gay couples

Image
South Korea's supreme court on Thursday upheld a ruling that a same-sex partner was eligible for spousal benefits from state health insurance, a move hailed as a win for LGBTQ rights in a country that has lagged others in the region. The court confirmed a landmark decision by the Seoul High Court early last year that the National Health Insurance Service should provide equal spousal coverage to So Sung-wook and Kim Yong-min - a gay couple who filed a suit in 2021 against the agency after it cancelled their spousal benefits. "I couldn't believe when I heard the ruling. I was extremely happy and I started crying," Kim told Reuters outside the court. "It took four years to earn this dependent status," he said. "We need to fight harder to legalize same sex marriage going forward." Chief Justice Jo Hee-de said that denying the couple benefits, even though there are no clauses in the national health insurance act that specifically refer to same-sex unio...

Kenya film director Enos Olik says Sauti Sol’s banned music video ‘Nishike’ is what gave him a breakthrough to become one of the country’s most sought after videographers. Released 10 years ago, ‘Nishike’ is the project that marked the beginning of his rise to the limelight as one of the finest video directors the country has to offer. “It has to be Sauti Sol's “Nishike”. In Tanzania, nobody can stand up to the government like we have seen in Kenya. We are good at empty talk, Kenyans do it with action and zeal," Ali Kiba said. The singer confessed that he was impressed by the protests led by Generation Z, which put the Kenyan government on the spot over governance issues. "Apart from having a family in Kenya, Kenya has always been my sec...
