United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Coordinator of Siaya County Charles Owino has promised to deliver Siaya County from the ODM party to the ruling regime.
In a media interview, Owino said the Luo Nyanza residents are proud to have fought for multiparty democracy, but it is not practiced in the region.
“I am the UDA Coordinator in Siaya county, I managed to get Ugenya out of ODM, I will manage to get Siaya out of ODM and take to UDA,” said Owino.
According to the former Police Spokesperson, Raila Odinga’s ODM is holding the region hostage and anyone who joins another party is a rebel.
Nyanza as a Bargaining Tool
Further, the former Police Spokesperson accused former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of using Nyanza region to bargain for his political interests in the national arena.
“There is also an issue of some MPs from Luo Nyanza allegedly supporting Kenya Kwanza Government. But why is it that when the president visits Nyanza, the governors are asked not to meet him but when the president goes to Coast, ODM governors meet him.
This means that he (Raila) does not want politicians from Nyanza to associate with the government. This guy wants to hold us in some corner and use us for bargain,” he said.

Charles Owino on Ruto – Raila Talks
On the bipartisan talks, Owino said it needs to be factual and not politically instigated to undermine President William Ruto’s regime.
Additionally, he noted that the talks should aim at providing solutions to the problems facing the country and not for the opposition to get shares in government.
“If the talks are not geared towards a handshake, I don’t have a problem. I will only have a problem if Raila wants to join government and wash everything under the table,” he said.
Further he argued that the president will not work appropriately if there is no active opposition to put him in check.
“There is need to have an opposition, the president has only two eyes and one brain and he may not see what is happening,” he said.
Owino further claimed that Raila has a history of going into a form of handshake with all the past presidents.

Cost of Living
The UDA Coordinator insisted that the talks should address majorly the cost of living.
“We talk about the cost of living as if it started with President Ruto, we must admit the cost of living and taxes are high, but we must come down and ask ourselves why this is happening and how can we solve it,” he said.
He held that Raila should not use the opportunity to get close to the president, suppress politicians from Luo Nyanza and sustain his ODM party in the region.
“It could also be a good opportunity for him to sustain his party because once he is close to the president, he will promise to deliver to him Luo Nyanza through ODM party only,” he said.
In addition, Owino said if this happens, politicians from Luo Nyanza will have to go through Raila to get anything from the government.
