Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche led the sessions, which covered Maxwell’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein and her knowledge of figures linked to him. Officials also provided the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee with an initial set of records tied to Epstein. The files, described by the panel as numbering in the thousands of pages, included more than 300 pages from Maxwell’s interviews. Young people eagerly look forward to participating in the democratic process and having a say in choosing their leaders, with the hope that their needs and interests will finally be taken into account. However, after an intense campaign season last year, the excitement of many youths who voted for the very first time in the last General Election has turned into disappointment. Former President Mwai Kibaki’s grandson Sean Andrew has defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son Jomo Kenyatta for allegations of having unlicensed firearms. Speaking during an interview with Eve Mungai on Sunday July 30, Sean wondered why the state was targeting Jomo Kenyatta and Mama Ngina, yet they are not politicians. “Jomo is someone I know personally, and I think he was unfairly targeted. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has asked to take care of Baby Sagini after reports emerged that he had no family to look after him. The office of the President has given strict rules to Kenya's top government officials, especially on any foreign travel plans. In a statement signed by Mr Felix Koskei who is the Chief of Staff in the government, all foreign travels organised by any government official should personally be allowed by President William Ruto. “The Government has issued various guidelines on foreign travel, outlining directives regarding travel conditions, delegation sizes, application procedures and timelines. Unfortunately, this office has observed a less than optimal compliance standard, which has resulted in a breach of some of the prescribed measures, numerous late requests, and difficulties in obtaining the prudence and cost-effectiveness, objective originally anticipated,” the statement read in part. Traffic nightmare as Kenha closes section of Kenyatta Avenue

Motorists on Friday were caught in a major traffic snarl-up after part of the busy Kenyatta Avenue was closed for road construction at the Nyayo House and Uhuru Highway Roundabout. According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha), the road will be closed in phases for 19 days to allow the re-installation of a cross culvert. Motorists were caught unaware as Kenha had initially stated that the closure would be during off-peak hours. A statement signed by Kenha Director General Kung’u Ndung’u said the closure will occur between July 25 and August 12 and shall be done at off-peak hours from 9 pm to 4 am. “The Kenya National Highways Authority hereby informs the public that a section of Kenyatta Avenue (at Uhuru Highway Roundabout), shall be closed in phases between Tuesday 25th July 2023 to Saturday 12th August 2023. The Officer-in-Charge of Zimmerman Police Post in Kasarani Division is awaiting arraignment after anti-graft detectives arrested her on bribery allegations. According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) , they arrested the officer, of the rank of Inspector on Thursday, and will face corruption charges. In a statement, EACC stated that the arrest came after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concurred with the recommendations of EACC to charge the Police Inspector with two counts of soliciting and receiving a bribe from the complainant to facilitate the release of his pregnant girlfriend.
